Automobiles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Police mentioned they were alerted by a resident who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Police say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state initial examinations indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any harm in association with the incident," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking representative said the attack made him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
